| The Pariahs and The Lorrainas Play In-Store at Reigning
Sound!
The Pariahs favourite gigs are the ones they play with their
favourite band, The
Lorrainas!
To make things even more fun, this show is at Hamilton's finest record
store,
Reigning Sound - which is run by ultra-cool Pariahs pal Jimmy Vapid.
The store is at 272 King. St. West in downtown Hamilton at
the corner of King and Hess St. Things will start happening around
10:00 - come on down, catch the show, hang with the bands and do some
shopping (The Pariahs will be dropping some cash on Jimmy's fine
selection of sleazy rock and roll rekkids I'm sure...)
Hell, even if nobody comes there will be a party, because
Pariahs + Lorrainas = Fun!

make sure you have plenty to drink...
This will be the FIRST EVER Toronto appearance by the new
Pariahs lineup with the amazing Staci Rat on bass!

The Pariahs are Back from the UK (Again)!
The Pariahs made it back alive from their second tour of
Britain - a great time was had by all! Some amazing rock and roll
nights with their new pals and tourmates the Diamond Dogs,
and lots of great new friends made from the audience - many of them
"Scunnys". For some reason the town of Scunthorpe is (unbeknowst to
many) the rock and roll capital of the galaxy!
Stay tuned for photos and road diaries once The Pariahs
recover from their travels...

Matty Pariah Resigns From The Pariahs
Yes, folks - the rumours are true. Alas, Matt Fidler has
decided to hang up his bass and retire from Pariahs duty effective
immediately. The Pariahs are VERY sorry to see Matt go, and would like
everybody to know that his decision was based on personal reasons not
related to any personal or professional band issues. Matt remains best
of pals with the rest of the gang, and his many years of rock and roll
misadventures with The Pariahs will not be forgotten. The Pariahs never
really came into their own until Matt first joined the band, and they
will have to try to live up to that Fidler spirit and make old Matty
proud!
Bass duties in The Pariahs have been taken on by moonlighting
Pariah pal Staci T. Rat of Red Light Rippers fame - the one man who
could ever try to fill Matt's shoes as a Pariah!
Matt has a personal message for all of the Pariahs friends
and fans

Pariahs Love The Master Plan
The Pariahs had a blast on their three-date mini-tour with
New York City's The
Master Plan. Featuring Andy Shernoff of The Dictators
along with Keith Streng and Bill Milhizer of The Fleshtones
(not to mention ultra-cool Paul Johnson of the southern drawl and the
blazing Stratocaster) this Dream Team of Rock n' Roll veterans RULED.
As Matty Pariah said, "Thanks for taking us back to school!" These guys
really know how to work a room and their songs are great - they were
huge fun to watch and super-cool and laid back to work with.
The Pariahs hope they come back soon... Here's a shot of both
bands backstage at Call The Office in London (unfortunately minus
Andy Shernoff who had gone AWOL when we took the photo...)

Here's a cool shot of some Pariahs and the lovely Lasha of The Lorrainas

at The

ChartAttack Reviews Pariahs Record
More press on the new CD - Click Here.
Or read this excerpt, stolen as usual without permission from
anybody...
"Grizzled vets of the Toronto bar circuit, The Pariahs are a
gang of filthy, Ramones-lovin’ malcontents who never met three chords
they didn’t like. Their third platter finds them coughing up another
slab of new and familiar no-frills punk-rawk rammalama marinated in a
broth of the finest piss, vinegar and stale beer. The fivesome still
serve their lunch bucket anthems with a generous side order of greasy
riffola ("Teenage Death Song"), but there’s more on the menu this time
than straight-up meat and potatoes. "Essential" swaggers with a Bon
Scott-sized chip on its shoulder, while "Down Again" could almost be an
honest-to-goodness radio single. Nonetheless, from the blistering
balls-out crunch of opener "Baby’s A Rocker" to the pogoing chant-along
"Joan Jett," The Pariahs prove that they’re at their finest when
they’re at their roughest. Steve English"

New Record Reviewed in eye Magazine!
The Pariahs's latest disc has been reviewed in the November
25, 2004 edition of Toronto's eye Weekly. You can view the article online
here. But because The Pariahs love you, they
have saved you the effort of clicking that stupid "mouse" do-hickey by
reproducing the article right here (and doubtless violating some law or
other which will get us sued...)
"There's an old SCTV commercial spoof about a roadhouse diner
called Beef and Booze, where a nerdy Dave Thomas gets his ass kicked
and called a faggot for ordering a salad. Were the place real, The
Pariahs would have a weekly residency. These guys did a
teeth-smashingly wicked version of "The Living End" at the Silver
Dollar's Jesus and Mary Chain tribute night last April; on this
nine-song mini-album, they reveal themselves more as heirs to The
Headstones' brass knuckles. The Pariahs are prone to lunkheaded
sub-AC/DC fist-pumpers ("Nighttime of Knives"), but their bruised
exterior can't mask a finely tuned pop ear (see: the Tim-vintage
Replacements-worthy "Down Again," or "Teenage Death Song," a sort of
hoser cousin to Nirvana's "Dive") and a knowing sense of humour (to
wit, "Sad Song," which, naturally, isn't particularly sad at all). SB"
Sigh... The Pariahs wish there were a real Beef and Booze...

Pariahs Return From UK Tour!
Yes, the rumours are true - The Pariahs actually toured in
Jolly Olde England (not to mention Scotland and Wales) and lived to
tell the tale!
They played a string of dates up and down the UK with their
Fading Ways buddies Aceface
and Neil Leyton.
Kudos to Neil and to Ashlyn Eaton (dominatrix of Fading Ways
Music UK) for making it all happen...
Watch this space for a tour diary and a whole whack of new
photos coming soon - in the meantime though, the Pariahs have a new
album about to launch in Canada! Imaginatively titled "The Pariahs,"
this new CD is easily the best effort yet squeezed from their remaining
collective brain cells - they're pretty excited about it!

Road Rash: Another Lost Weekend, May 27, 28, 29, 2004
In which we meet some cool bands and attempt to shatter our
own already impressive records for alcohol abuse, hearing damage,
whiplash and wrong turns… as told by Johnny Pariah, blow-by-blow and
suck-by-suck, which explains why many of the details are fuzzy at best.
Ah, road trips – we don’t do them nearly as often as we used
to, although we’re aiming to remedy that by the time we get the new
album out. And while you can’t exactly call three gigs a tour –
especially when the farthest-flung place is Hamilton – the last weekend
in May was a rock-out-with-your-cock-out blast nonetheless.
The death march in question was orchestrated by guitar
hero/bon vivant/raconteur/fellow horror movie nerd Staci T. Rat, to
whom we owe serious props for his deft juggling of the myriad logistics
and bullshit involved in putting together even a short jaunt like this
one with multiple bands. Now, let’s meet our cast…

News Flash...Pariahs Return to Hamilton's Corktown!
November 1st saw the return of The Pariahs to one of their
old Hammertown haunts, the gloriously low-rent Corktown.
Their new pals The Punk Rods invited them to Hamilton to play a bill
that also included Toronto's Liquor Pigs and the excellently-named
Gnarly Skull.
The Pariahs hadn't played The Corktown since God was a boy,
but it was the same as ever - crazy drunken Hamilton rounders, punks
and assorted misfits abounded. The most obvious changes since the bad
old days were the addition of a HUGE lighting rig and the fastening of
the stands for the vocal mikes to the ceiling! Apparently this was done
to make it impossible for crazed punks to throw the stands around like
harpoons. Oh, also all the tables and chairs near the stage got smashed
into matchwood at some point and were never replaced. There are also
"No Beer Bottles Past This Point" signs posted at the edge of the
"furniture-free" zone... All they need now is a metal cage across the
front of the stage!
Anyway, it was a night of high-octane, noisy rock - The
Pariahs hit it off well with fellow veterans The Liquor Pigs (oddly,
the bands had never met before) and plan to play together again in the
near future. Gnarly Skull have to take the prize for the most memorable
onstage moment, when their singer introduced a song as follows: "This
next one's called 'Don't Make Me Kill You Again.' Ummm... It's about
zombies."

Mayhem and Bloodshed at The Silver Dollar!
The Pariahs headlined a rockin' bill at Toronto's venerable Silver
Dollar Room on October 9, 2003... The Spoilers kicked things off in
fine fashion with their own brand of blues-punk, followed by the
inimitable Neil Leyton playing his first gig in Toronto since
his recent adventures in Europe.
Both bands turned in great sets and the crowd was well warmed
up by the time The Pariahs took to the rather small Silver Dollar stage
and proceeded to crank out the rock... The close quarters guaranteed
plenty of onstage collisions and near-misses with cables and mike
stands as the band launched into their usual antics.
Things turned strange almost immediately as Loaf Pariah
somehow managed to acquire a 3-inch mystery cut on the inside of his
right wrist and proceeded to bleed all over his guitar for the rest of
the night... This turned out to be a taste of things to come. Towards
the end of the set, Mikey Pariah (after many close calls) finally had a
complete wipeout on the beer-slicked stage and crashed face-first onto
the dance-floor, in the process slicing open his hand on the shards of
glass from the beer bottles he had happened to smash during the
proceedings.
Undaunted, a bruised and hemorrhaging Mike sprang back onto
the stage for a rousing encore that ended with a cover of Motorhead's
classic "Ace of Spades," during which an enthusiastic fan reached up to
finger the strings of Loaf's blood-encrusted guitar as he played the
signature lick... Yuck!
Anyway, a great time was had by all. The crowd got a great
triple bill of rock, and Mike ended the night bleeding into the sink in
the men's room while his girlfriend bandaged his hand... Meanwhile most
of the money from the door went to the club to pay for the microphone
stand that he inadvertently destroyed...
Rock and Roll!

...News Flash...Pariahs Kick Ass at The Bovine Yet
Again!....
Just when it seems like The Pariahs' notorious Bovine Sex
Club appearances can't get any more crazed, they go and get... More
crazed! The last show on September 20, 2003 was the best yet in terms
of audience reaction... Great singalong by the crowd during the new
live Pariahs classic "Nightime of Knives!"
In attendance were the members of The Darkness,
currently one of the hottest bands in the U.K. They came by the Bovine
following their early show (and debut Canadian appearance) at Lee's
Palace. Apparently the Darkness lads enjoyed The Pariahs -
complimentary remarks were made to the band and to Bovine staff. It's
always nice to get a thumbs up from fellow musicians, especially ones
who share The Pariahs' conviction that ALL venues must be treated as if
you are in an arena, regardless of size! Now if The Pariahs could only
arrange to get on the bill for their next Toronto gig...

...News Flash...Pariahs Appear on UK Sampler for
ChangesOne Record Label!
ChangesOne (both an indie record label and an online record
store) are the UK distributor for the Pariahs' label, Fading Ways
Music. C1 Head Honcho Ian Tunstall has included the Pariahs track "Sad
Song" on the July edition of his popular monthly ChangesOne EP sampler.
This is all part of the Pariahs' plan to focus on touring and selling
records on the other side of the pond in the near future... Fading Ways
Maxiumum Leader Neil Leyton has been working like... like... (a
musician? No, that's not right...) Anyway, he's been doing a lot of
work setting up distribution and touring arrangements for the label in
various European countries - as well as warming 'em up with his own
shows while he's over there. Neil is great! If The Pariahs can ever get
their new record finished they will immediately try to fob it off on
those unsuspecting foreigners... Then they will proceed to invade the
continent in person! Eurofolk, lock up your women! (Well, more
realistically, lock up your booze... Oh, and you should probably tape
garbage bags over the monitor cabinets and change the air freshener in
the men's room...)

...News Flash... Pariahs' Beer Boosted by Brainless Bar
Brass!
The Pariahs' recent NXNE show at The 360 was the scene of a
strange and irksome event unprecedented in their long history... A
person apparently possessing some kind of managerial authority (he was
never formally introduced, so let's borrow from Anthony Burgess and
refer to him here as "Dim") took exception to Mikey Pariah's habit of
holding an open beer in his hand while singing. As fans of the band
have doubtless noticed, beer occasionally slops out of the bottle as
Mike waves his arms and generally goes nuts...
Anyway, during the first song of the set (and before Mike had
more than dribbled a bit - he was still getting warmed up), Dim
approached the front of the stage and got right in Mike's face, making
menacing gestures and scowling like a WWF wrestler. Very uncool!
Messing with the Pariahs while they are playing is NOT the best way to
win over hearts and minds to your neatness campaign... It's a bit like
poking a stick through the bars of the bear cage at the zoo.
More positive results could have been obtained by a polite
aside between songs - the Pariahs are generally pretty agreeable.
However, Dim instead decided to order one of the hapless NXNE festival
organizers onstage WHILE THE BAND WAS PLAYING, to confiscate their
beer! That's like poking the bears with a very, very sharp stick...
After the show Mike and Dim got into a rather heated debate
during which it transpired that Dim was concerned that spilled beer
might have damaged the monitors... If monitors were that susceptible to
damage Mike would have had to buy new ones for every club in town by
now! In any case, regardless of the legitimacy of this issue the
Pariahs were EXTREMELY unimpressed by Dim's rude and unprofessional
handling of the situation.
Anyway... anybody in attendence that evening who was not
preoccupied with the imminent danger that beer might sully the 360
stage may have noticed that the now-very-pissed-off Pariahs tore
through a brief but blistering showcase set that was well-received by a
loudly enthusiastic audience... But who cares about that?
The 360 has become a much better venue of late thanks to
improvements in the PA, and it is now actually worth playing there -
it's a shame that the place is run by a buffoon.

...News Flash - Pariahs are Scuzz!
eye Weekly have apparently invented a new musical sub-genre
for the purpose of describing The Pariahs... In a write-up for our May
1st show at the Rivoli, the paper made reference to "scuzz-rock
outsiders The Pariahs." As Johnny Pariah said, "at least it's better
than anarcho-vegan performance-art collective The Pariahs."

Pariahs in the Globe and Mail!
A letter to the editor of the Globe and Mail written by Loaf
Pariah was actually printed in the paper... We're not sure why. Check
the online version here.
Calls have been pouring into Pariahs H.Q. in support of
Loaf's letter. The Pariahs confidently expect that mayor Mel Lastman
will make "Pariah City" Toronto's official nickname before the end of
his term...

| Pariahs to invade UK! |
|
|
|
It has come to Chad's attention that The Pariahs' Canadian
Invasion tour of the UK in November 2004 left a few stray Britons who
remain unaware of their Godlike Powers of Rock. For the good of these
poor souls The Pariahs are once again packing their toothbrushes for a
tour of Jolly Old England (not to mention Wales...) Once again, the
boys shall wrestle with immense logistical challenges such as "How will
we get to the airport?" "Did anybody bring the tickets?" and "Is there
anywhere in Customs where you can get a drink?"
Never...In the
field of Rock, and/or Roll
Has so much been owed
By so many
To The Pariahs
Some famous English dude said that... Or words to that
effect. We don't have the exact text in front of us just now.
This time out The Pariahs are supporting the UK tour of
Swedish rock n' rollers Diamond Dogs. Fortunately they seem to speak
English, since The Pariahs' only knowledge of Swedish comes from this
guy.
Due to the much-lamented departure
of Matty Pariah from the band, bass duties will be handled by
Staci T. Rat of the infamous Red Light Rippers.
Staci ROCKS and The Pariahs are looking forward to having him on board!
Sun Nov. 13 SWANSEA, WALES Ludwig's with The Infidels
Wed Nov. 16th Nuneaton Queens Hall with Diamond Dogs
Thu Nov. 17th BARNSLEY Sturdy Lads with Diamond Dogs
Fri Nov. 18th NOTTINGHAM Junction with Diamond Dogs

If you're going to catch one Pariahs show in Toronto, it
oughta be at The Bovine Sex Club - these nights are always a blast! And
this time out they are sharing the stage with their buddies Plastic
Bag! Fronted by wild-man singer/guitarist Eric Bridenbaker (that's the
man who did such a bang-up job mixing the Pariahs' latest self-titled
album), ultra-heavy riff-rockers "The Bag" will kick off the night -
and you can bet all five Pariahs will be right up front for some
head-bangin' beer-chuggin ROCK ACTION!
Remember that Bovine shows start early so get there by 10:30
or so - you don't want to miss Plastic Bag - or worse, get stuck
standing outside!
In fact, look at this photo from the last Pariahs show at The
Bovine... That's more people than The Pariahs even know! And isn't that
Fading Ways Music Maximum Leader and Rock Star at Large Neil Leyton in
the exact centre of the photo? And doesn't it look like he is evil?
Perhaps possessed?
Paging Father Karras!

may ensue?

Big Rock Show at The Drake - Friday September 24th, 2004
The Pariahs will be playing at the newly-renovated Drake Hotel in Toronto - a pretty flashy spot
for such a low-rent rock n' roll band! Joining them will be a great
trio of Toronto bands - Pariahs pals Red Light Rippers
(of infamous Road Rash fame); the
ass-kicking rock outfit Maximum RNR; and legendary Toronto punk-rock
n' roll pioneers The Raving Mojos - featuring a buddy of The
Pariahs from waaayy back - the wickedly rockin' guitar-slinger Kurt
Schefter. The Pariahs look forward to seeing Kurt again - they have
many fond (if somewhat hazy) memories of him from The Good Old Days...
The Mojos will be screening a film of uneathed footage of a
show they did back in 1982 (before they broke up for years and then
reunited...)
Here's the schedule - get there early and catch the whole
show!
10:00 - Red Light Rippers
11:00 - Pariahs

alter egos The
Lorrainas may be in attendance... We were very sorry to hear
that their Toronto gig for the same evening fell through, making it
possible that they may come out to our show.
OK, we weren't really sorry....

Tribute Night at Toronto's Silver DollarGood Friday - Friday, April 9

Nassau & Space Elevator) playing their versions of tunes by English
feedback-maestros Jesus and Mary Chain. The event is called "The
Passion of Jesus and Mary Chain," and you guessed it - The Pariahs have
been asked on board to see what happens if you cross moody British
noise-pop with some good old-fashioned Canadian rockarolla!

Friday, November 28 - Pre-Xmas Party at Stones Place!
The Pariahs will be making their debut appearance at
Toronto's Stones Place courtesy of The Spoilers. As you may recall from
last week's episode, Neil Leyton and The Spoilers shared a bill
recently opening for The Pariahs at Toronto's Silver Dollar Room... Now
The Spoilers are returning the favour by inviting The Pariahs, Neil
Leyton and Galore
(yet another Fading Ways buddy-band familiar to Pariahs fans) to play
their show at Stones Place.
This should be a great show... If you have never been to
Stones Place you should check it out. As the name suggests the bar is a
shrine to the Rolling Stones... It is definately one of the more
interesting and unusual bars in the city. It seems more like Keith
Richards' living room than a club!
Stones Place is on Queen West just west of Dufferin. Cover is
$5.00.
See ya there!

News Flash... Pariahs to Play Stooges Tribute Night
The Pariahs will be playing yet another one of Dan Burke's
infamous Tribute Nights at Toronto's Silver Dollar on Tuesday, August
12, 2003. These events are always a blast and the Pariahs have been
doing them for years... The mission this time out is to play 3 tunes by
The Stooges (as in Iggy Pop). If you haven't caught one of Dan's
tribute nights you really ought to check it out - the bands are always
great and with the short sets everybody plays it's like a veritable
jukebox of Toronto's rock n' rollingest club acts!

Thursday, July 31 2003 - El Mocambo
The Pariahs will be returning to their old haunt - the world
famous El Mocambo! For a while it seemed that the old Elmo was done for
and that it was doomed to endure an ignominious career as a dance
studio... But now it has once again returned to its rightful place as a
live music venue.
Come on out and see the newly renovated joint! Same old
wooden bar downstairs, thank god...
Also on the bill are Millions of Cats That Turned on Their Masters and
Miles Per Hour.

...News Flash... Pariahs to Make Midnight Appearance at
NXNE!
The Pariahs will be wrecking the stage at Toronto's The 360
on Friday, June 6 2003 as part of the annual North by Northeast music
festival. The Pariahs play this event most years... But unlike many
other bands, however, they won't be fawning over any drunk record
company interns from Oakville who are pretending to be A&R reps!
Any industry weasels who wander in by accident will have to buy their
own drinks, and will run the same chance of getting hit in the eye with
a beer bottle as any other audience member...
Last year's NXNE appearance (also at The 360) turned into a
particularly frenzied exercise in beer-spraying mayhem for a small but
crazed audience of NXNE misfits... Come on out! The Pariahs hit the
stage at midnight sharp!

Bovine Sex Club Baptised Again By Pariahs!
Cardinal expected to beatify the venue following yet another
scorching hot Pariahs show to a packed and maddened crowd of
rapscalions.
Thanks to all of you smart fucks who, once again, proved to
us that rock and roll is a dangerous yet fun tension-releasing
mechanism.
A completely amazing time was had by all on stage, and judging by the
hoots, hollers, crowd size and bar receipts you all had a damn fine
time along with us. Thanks!
Highlights included:
- Mike being dominated and pulled violently backwards from
front riser by evil guitarist John during "Heart Attack" to allow for
twin-headed guitar monster sensation in his place.
- The near constant spittle and beer shower from Mike being met
appreciatively by the "nasty front row fans" (thanks for the beers)
- A number of near misses between Matt (killer headstock
bassist) and Mike (vain and oblivious drinker / screamer)
- Bonz - how the hell do you keep the skin pummelling up?!
- Loaf - how the hell do you keep looking so good while kicking
Les Paul ass so well?! (Loaf says, "Oil of Olay")
- Joe Virus makes special late appearance. How can you kill him
when he's already dead?
- Neil Leyton looking far too stylish - as always (stay tuned
for some combo shows with our mentor soon...his new album is amazing
and he's been touring Europe quite extensively recently - perhaps we
will too...more on that later)
- Plastic Bag kicking some serious ass in true battery rock
form (stay tuned for some more shows with these behemoths to be!)

The Pariahs Love Hamilton!
The Pariahs had forgotten how much fun it is to play Canada's
rock n' rollingest town... Hamilton! We had a blast playing at the most
excellent Underground... Thanks to Brodie for having us. We wanna come
back! Excellent sets by The Punk Rods, Pink Belly and Dodger kept the
Pariahs entertained when we weren't onstage... We also got to hang out
with punk legend Mickey Desadist of The Forgotten
Rebels. Mike, Loaf and Bonz used to cover Rebels' tunes in the
band Guyana Kool-Aid (a vaguely ridiculous but fondly remembered
punkoid ensemble that gradually mutated into The Pariahs). The
Forgotten Rebels' first record came out in - get this - 1978! Never
mind the bollocks - listen to Canada's very own first-generation punk
innovators!
